Work is being done to repair the Almonte ambulance base from the fire in March.
It’s owned by the Almonte General Hospital and insurance covers the restoration costs.
Lanark County CAO Kurt Greaves thinks it’s going to take longer to repair than what he’s been told.
In the meantime, paramedics have posted up at the Mississippi Mills Fire Hall, but the fire department doesn’t see that as a long-term solution.
County staff proposed buying a construction trailer to use as their offices and just using the garages at the fire hall to create more space, and hope an agreement can be reached until staff can return to the hospital location.
They’ve explored other options at other county-owned locales, but have determined the renovations would be too expensive.
